THE OFF-NEW

The Off New is a curatorial project by Letizia Maggio and Ilaria Ruggiero that will be presented on the occasion of Budapest Jewelry Week 2026.

It aims to reframe the idea of the New in contemporary jewelry: instead of chasing novelty, it focuses on the precise moment of deviation—the slight shift that alters perception and opens a different angle of meaning.
By bringing together established artists with students from the course in Jewelry Design at IED Milano, whose works employ shifts in function, material, or semiotic expectation, the exhibition articulates a curatorial argument: that the New can be understood as a subtle yet generative divergence, a micro‑movement that expands the epistemic and aesthetic field of jewelry.

A photographic intervention will quietate weave into the exhibition echoing the theme through a different art form and perspective.
